About Us

The Vallarta Bird and Nature Festival

It is a registered, non-profit, public-benefit Mexican Corporation

that is administered by a volunteer Board of Directors and Officers. All of our work is funded by private donations and the money we raise from our annual festival.

Donations

The Vallarta Bird and Nature Festival supports projects in the area of Avian and Nature Conservation. All contributions to this fund will be distributed to the recipients of this fund following the yearly Festival.

What we do

Get Outside and Explore

In 2012

disappearing natural habitat due to modernization and population growth led a small group of nature lovers to gather to find ways to raise awareness and appreciation for the unparalleled natural resources in the Bay of Banderas and surrounding Cabo Corrientes.

We agreed

that bird watching was a great way to get outside and that few hobbies offer so much for all ages of people from different cultures and walks of life. Thus, the bird festival was born.

Today

after many ups and downs, and an ongoing effort we have donated three nest boxes to the Santuario de las Guacamayas, organized a lot of birding tours, recorded well over 350 bird species, and observed crocodiles, whales, dolphins and other local marine animals during the festival.

Cultivate The Idea of Conservation

A big part of the fun is putting a name to that bird, plant, or animal you are watching. We are fortunate to have passionate naturalists and professional birding guides that donate their time and expertise through inspiring and educational presentations during the festival.
