About Us

Our Mission

To spark awareness for birds and nature and to inspire people to act to conserve birds and nature for its ability to enrich our lives.

The Vallarta Bird and Nature Festival is a registered, non-profit, public-benefit Mexican Corporation that is administered by a volunteer Board of Directors and Officers. All of our work is funded by private donations and the money we raise from our annual festival.

The Vallarta Bird and Nature Festival supports projects in the area of avian and nature conservation. All contributions to this fund will be distributed to the recipients of this fund following the yearly festival. The Macaw Sanctuary has been one of our recipients each year with three new and occupied macaw nest boxes in place. We are devoted to enhancing the awareness and appreciation of our natural resources through offering educational presentations of interest during the festival. Donations can be earmarked for specific projects, The Macaw Sanctuary, The Least Tern Project, or The Vallarta Bird and Nature Festival. All gifts are welcome!

What We Do

Get Outside and Explore.

In 2012, disappearing natural habitat due to modernization and population growth led a small group of nature lovers to gather to find ways to raise awareness and appreciation for the unparalleled natural resources in the Bay of Banderas and surrounding Cabo Corrientes.

We agreed that bird watching was a great way to get outside and that few hobbies offer so much for all ages of people from different cultures and walks of life. Thus, the bird festival was born.

Cultivate The Idea of Conservation

A big part of the fun is putting a name to that bird, plant, or animal you are watching. We are fortunate to have passionate naturalists and professional birding guides that donate their time and expertise through inspiring and educational presentations during the festival.
